Senator Cory Booker’s words were in my head when MAGA Republicans in Congress pushed their budget proposal through the House without a single vote from Democrats.

This is just wrong.

The Republican budget drains money from Medicaid ($880 billion) to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

It takes food out of poor children’s mouths by cutting the SNAP program ($220 billion) to fund the Trump Administration’s vicious ICE raids.

These wrong-headed and, frankly, nauseating policies will devastate our communities: 154,000 people in my district alone rely on Medicaid for their healthcare coverage — about 50,000 are children.

I’ll say it again: stealing money from children and families to fund tax cuts for billionaires is just plain WRONG.
