Medicaid Awareness Month is the perfect time to highlight the services and benefits the program provides and those covered. Healthy Schools Campaign and its partners released a New Report: How Medicaid Cuts Will Harm Students & Schools. Among the findings, 80% of respondents said that if Medicaid is cut, their school district would reduce specialized instructional support personnel, including school nurses, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational and physical therapists. Related Resources: NASN advocates for sufficient funding to ensure school nurses are present in every school in the country and proposes several policy changes and legislative efforts to Simplify Medicaid Billing Processes. NASN is gathering input from school nurses to better understand how Medicaid is used in schools, districts, and states—and how potential funding cuts could impact school nursing services.
