The school nurse promotes students' understanding of asthma, including identifying triggers and symptoms and correctly using medication to self-manage their disease. NASN's School Nursing Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline: Students with Asthma reflect the School Nursing Practice Framework™ foundational principle of standards of practice and the practice principles of care coordination, leadership, quality improvement, and community/public health.
