Hi John,

We're making progress in our campaign to expose the criminal animal cruelty at Perdue's California subsidiary, Petaluma Poultry. *Last week, we put the pressure on Perdue from coast to coast.*

Here in *Sonoma County, California* , dozens of DxE activists held a peaceful protest outside the home of Jason Arnold, Director of Operations for Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. This was our 8th protest outside Jason's house, once again calling on him to either stop the animal abuse happening under his watch or resign from his position.

Multiple news outlets showed up to photograph the protest, including the county's largest newspaper ( [link removed] ) , and our large cut-out of Jason Arnold's face made it onto local TV news.

Also last week, DxE activists in *Los Angeles* escalated our campaign urging Trader Joe's to stop selling chickens from Perdue's Petaluma Poultry. Trader Joe's is a major retailer (with locations in 43 US states) and if they cut ties with Petaluma Poultry, that would have a big impact on the company. DxE activists have been protesting Trader Joe's stores across California for months, but last week for the first time, activists took the protest right to the Trader Joe's headquarters in LA.

On the other side of the country, activists mobilized for a week of action on the Eastern Shore in *Salisbury, Maryland* where Perdue Farms is headquartered. They wanted to make sure the person at the top - Perdue CEO Kevin McAdams - heard our message about shutting down Petaluma Poultry. These activists also displayed a large prop showing Kevin McAdams' face with a speech bubble reading "I TORTURE CHICKENS" that helped grab attention from passersby.

In addition to the headquarters, the activists protested at the nearby Perdue slaughterhouse, marched through downtown Salisbury, where they encountered a lot of support from members of the public, and even went to Yacht Club Drive, where Kevin McAdams lives -- greedily profiting off the abuse of millions of animals. There was a heavy police presence throughout the week, and *Perdue even put up new fencing in advance of the protests, clearly trying to keep activists far away.* But we know they heard our message. Several local stations reported ( [link removed] ) on the protests, elevating our calls for an end to the violence at Petaluma Poultry. Some of the press ( [link removed] ) even seriously discussed the debate around ending animal agriculture completely.

Everywhere we go and every action we take, we are having an impact. Each of us has the power to start conversations and create change, and when we come together, our power multiplies.

Although we're facing a multi-billion dollar company that is trying to throw our fellow activist Zoe Rosenberg in prison for exposing their lies, let's remember how powerful we are. We are bringing the industry's violence to the light of day. They're the ones building fences to hide the truth of their actions from the public. They're the ones with blood on their hands -- and they know it. It is Perdue's Petaluma Poultry that should be prosecuted for their crimes against animals, workers, and the public. And through nonviolent direct action, we can build the pressure to make that happen.

In solidarity,
Cassie
