Heads up, America: Congress is about to make a major move that could hit
our communities where it hurts. Last night, the House passed a Continuing
Resolution (CR) that slices $13 billion from essential services that help
keep us healthy, housed, and thriving. [ [link removed] ]And unless we speak up, the
Senate could sign off on this dangerous plan.
Urgent call to action: Tell the Senate to vote NO!
Here's the kicker: While they slash critical funding for things like
disaster relief, clean energy, and healthcare, they're tossing an extra $6
billion into defense spending. Oh, and they're also giving the President
free rein to move money around without Congressional approval.
Translation? Less oversight, more uncertainty, and our communities left
hurting and helpless.
Here’s only a few of the egregious cuts we will lose if this passes:
* Small Businesses: Devastating cuts to programs that empower
entrepreneurs to build, grow, and hire—undermining local economies and
job creation.
* Disaster Relief: Stripping resources from communities fighting to
recover after storms, floods, and wildfires—leaving them vulnerable
and unprotected.
* Clean Energy: Gutting renewable energy programs that defend our
planet, cut pollution, and lower energy bills—risking higher costs and
a dirtier future.
* Affordable Housing: Slashing support for housing subsidies,
threatening a wave of evictions and skyrocketing rents for low-income
families already struggling to stay afloat.
* Public Transportation: Choking off funding for critical upgrades,
meaning longer, less reliable commutes that hit working families the
hardest.
* Healthcare: Brutal cuts to veterans' care, women's health services,
and essential workforce training—putting lives at risk and undermining
public health when it matters most.
Why is our government gambling on the lives of real people, real families,
and real futures? We need a budget that invests in us, not one that
sacrifices our health, safety, and environment.
The Senate can still do the right thing. Tell them: Vote NO on the CR that
puts our communities at risk. Demand a budget that protects our health,
our homes, and our planet—because we deserve better.
