Dear Friends,
This is a moment—from the unrest in Minneapolis and cities across America to the economic uncertainty of families that are hanging on by a thread—we are all on the front lines and impacted by all that is happening in the world.
At IWPR, we are not only committed to ensuring that women and families are economically secure and can pursue their dreams and ambitions without interference or harm, we are also committed to the safety, health, and well-being of their families and communities.
I feel very humbled to be leading IWPR in this current social and political moment. I do not take for granted our platform and the power we have to deliver timely research that lifts up the experiences and lives of the women and communities we care so deeply about. What we say in this moment matters.
There is an urgency to this extraordinary moment that cannot be denied. The decisions we make now about how to engage with others, and how we will show up with the moral courage to support and protect and provide for those with less power, privilege or ability—will determine our future, and whether we will become further disconnected or fully realize our shared humanity.
We all have a role to play in our families, communities, and in our workplaces to help us get to a better place. For sure, the only way to ensure that we all make it to the other side of it is together. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.:
Everybody can be great […] because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
Join us on the frontlines.
In leadership and service,
