** Texas Senate Bill 2 (SB2) neither helps School Choice nor Public Schools
------------------------------------------------------------

Texas Senators DO NOT understand what Texas Parents want from School Choice and are pushing for laws that not only take funding from Public Schools, but also only benefit less than 2% of Texas Students while benefitting Private interests and expanding our Government unnecessarily.

Texans parents want to spend their own money on their child’s education as they choose, whether it’s Public, Charter, Private, or Home School.

THIS BILL (SB2) DOES NOT FUNCTION LIKE THAT AND WILL NOT ENABLE YOU TO DO THAT

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

Senate Bill 2 is headed to the Education Committee on 1/28/25, & Senators need to hear from you NOW!

Talking Points:

1. SB2 will pay ~$30Mil to the Comptroller who will have sole discretion to determine which Certified Education Assistance Organizations, schools, and services will qualify for this program. Parents will not have true autonomy to decide what is best for their child.

2. SB2 allots $1Billion (from YOUR TAXES) for this program, (above and beyond the already existing per pupil state allotment), & will create additional expenses for public education funding (through teacher raises, etc).

3. National Normative ASSESSMENTS will be REQUIRED for any student who utilizes the program (in any school setting, including home school).

4. Only ~100,000 students of Texas’ 6+ million students will have access to this LOTTERY program. This is less than 2% of the ~5.6 Million Texas Students.

ANY student that is eligible for public school enrollment will be eligible to apply for this LOTTERY, including illegal immigrants.

80% of these eligible students must have attended public school for 90% of the preceding year, and either be ‘low income’ (under ~$160,000 household income) or have a disability to qualify.

5. State Agencies or elected officials will be able to impose restrictions or requirements on religious schools to further a compelling government interest if necessary.
