This job is within the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Aging and Long-Term Support Administration. [ [link removed] ]

If you communicate fluently in American Sign Language (ASL), have the skills and confidence to train professionals on how to work with people who are hard of hearing or experiencing hearing loss, and have communication assistive technology knowledge for Hard of Hearing, Deaf, and Deafblind people, we'd like to connect with you.  

A mostly telework schedule is available for this role and you can work from anywhere statewide.

Evening and Night work includes a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Dual language assignment pay is available for this job. To be eligible, the selected candidate would take an American Sign Language Proficiency Interview and score a rating of 3 or higher. 
 
One of our goals is to increase the number of service providers receiving education and training in communication access modalities (various communication methods and tools used by people who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing) in Washington State. Providing virtual and/or onsite training and educational opportunities to staff and service providers regarding communication access places us on the path towards a more inclusive environment for our hard of hearing clients and colleagues. In addition, it helps to ensure that we are equipped to meet the communication access needs of people with hearing loss and identity.

*Some of what you'll do*


* Develop, administer, and monitor program organization, service contract management, and provide information, referrals, advocacy, education, and outreach services
* Communicate with staff, clients, and the public in ASL
* Organize and administer a statewide program for the provision of training, hearing loss education, consultation, and resources to the service providers and families of the Deaf, Deafblind, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened, and Speech Disabled communities
* Develop and administer communication access modalities and an education-training curriculum; conduct training, workshops, and presentations
* Conduct field visits to monitor their effectiveness and appropriateness of services. Travel to other customer-related events and activities
* Assess client complaints, grievances, and resolution processes
* Develop and maintain connections with stakeholders and service providers, which may involve contract development; develop and maintain partnerships with other local organizations
* Partner with the hearing loss communities, including the Hearing Loss Association of America, Washington State Veterans Affairs, and Hearing Loss and Older Adults groups to provide hearing loss education and support using ASL and assistive technology 

*Who should apply*
Those fluent in American Sign Language and one of the following:


* A master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, and two years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs 
* Or, a bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; and three years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
* Or, one year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1

* Ability to work effectively with people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened, Deaf Plus, and Speech Disabled
* Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
