Transgender Youth: Online Sexual Exploitation of Vulnerable Children
Children are searching of communities that accept them for who they are. When they struggle to find such communities in the offline world they look to the internet.
Jay, A transgender teen, experienced rejection and relentless bullying on a daily basis. Jay sought to find accepting people. Like much of today's youth, Jay looked online. Adults used manipualtive tactics eventually leading to explicit images of 15-year-old, Jay being spread across the internet.
Jay's story is not unique and it highlights the very real dangers facing vulnerable youth in the virtual world. We have to stop the onslaught of sexual exploitation facing our children.

The White House Calls on Tech Companies to Combat Image-Based Sexual Abuse
On May 23rd, The White House posted an urgent call to action regarding
image-based sexual abuse (IBSA)
, including AI-generated and real images distributed without knowledge or consent.
The White House called on industry leaders, including payment processors, cloud providers, search engines, and others to help prevent and remedy the harms of image-based sexual abuse.
"The explosion of AI is already
fueling
the child sexual abuse material crisis and disproportionately affects women and girls.
The White House has rightly directed tech companies to stem the inevitable tidal wave of harm caused by AI-generated sexually explicit images. Tech companies must find and enact solutions immediately
,” said Dawn Hawkins, CEO, National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
