[link removed] [[link removed]] The Atlantic hurricane season is here – and last week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced they are expecting another above average season.
This is thanks in no small part to unusually warm ocean waters. NOAA expects anywhere from eight to thirteen hurricanes this season in comparison to a typical season which averages just seven.
From Hurricanes Maria and Ida to Michael and Harvey, hurricanes in the past few years have caused deaths, displacements, and billions of dollars in damage.
But too often, we hear myths and misinformation about hurricanes, how they form, and how they’re connected to the climate crisis.
