THE UPDATE: Governor Kelly just announced a special legislative session set to begin on June 18 [[link removed].] .

While the session is supposed to focus on passing a tax plan, the legislature is free to explore other legislation. We’re monitoring to make sure any attempts to pass new abortion restrictions meets fierce resistance. Stay tuned for more.

ICYMI: Last week, abortion providers in Kansas filed a lawsuit [[link removed]] challenging the new law that mandates abortion patients be asked invasive questions about their reasons for getting an abortion, and that those answers be registered in a state database. The law will go into effect on July 1 unless it’s blocked in court.
