Friend,
Governor Murphy believes that if you’ve served your time, you should be able to serve on a jury.
New Jersey currently has some of the strictest laws in the country for revoking jury service rights from citizens with felony convictions — laws that affect over 500,000 New Jerseyans.
These individuals, who are predominantly Black and Hispanic, are being denied the right to perform a fundamental civic duty, and individuals on trial are being denied the opportunity to be judged by a jury of their peers — undermining the integrity of our democracy, our criminal justice system, and the rule of law.
Governor Murphy supports a bill that will restore the right to serve on a jury for formerly incarcerated New Jerseyans — add your name now to show your support for the bill: [[link removed]]
