Happy Saturday. âï¸
Below are the top news stories from around the country - handpicked for
you this week by the editors at the Free Telegraph! Some are saying the
Democratic governor of North Carolina is "not the fella you thought you
elected" - Is it his refusal to compromise on the budget or his hard
turn to the left? How about both! In Arizona, teachers are getting
another pay raise, which is good for them and good for students! Lastly,
leftist demonstrators targeted Sen. Mitch McConnell at his home last
weekend. Is this a sign of more to come? Read about that and more below!
Gov. Roy Cooper Has "Wandered Leftward," Embraces "Extreme Positions" As
He Holds State Budget "Hostage"
What Happened:
Local media in North Carolina is taking Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper to task
for running to the left after winning his election on the promise that
he would be a "reasonable, consensus-building leader".
Why You Should Care:
It makes us wonder: Do so-called moderate Democrats even exist anymore?
Or are all politicians on the left competing to see who can become the
most radical?
What Happens Next:
In North Carolina, Cooper essentially issued an ultimatum to the state
legislature: either expand Medicaid or teachers and state employees
won't get raises. How will that play out? Only time will tell. But it
doesn't sound very "consensus-building".

Arizona Teachers Get Pay Raises For New School Year
What Happened:
Teachers in Arizona are getting a 5% pay raise going into the new school
year - that's after getting a 10% raise last year.
Why You Should Care:
The raises are part of GOP Gov. Doug Ducey's plan to raise teacher pay
20% by 2020. It's also helping with recruitment to fill the state's
teaching vacancies - many of which are in special education.
What Happens Next:
Teachers start the school year with extra money in their pockets, which
is great not only for them, but for students as well!

ICYMI: Protesters Gather Outside McConnell's Kentucky Home, One Calls
For His Stabbing "In the Heart"
What Happened:
A group of left-wing protestors gathered outside the home of Senate
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Video of the protest was captured and
shared on social media. Let's just say it's not very pleasant.
Why You Should Care:
Should lawmakers be subject to this kind of "activism" in their own
private homes? Just last year another Kentucky Senator - Rand Paul - was
brutally attacked in his yard. Where does it end?
What Happens Next:
Who knows. But it seems like leftist mobs are only growing larger - and
louder.
