Local media in North Carolina is taking Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper to task for running to the left after winning his election on the promise that he would be a "reasonable, consensus-building leader".
Why You Should Care:
It makes us wonder: Do so-called moderate Democrats even exist anymore? Or are all politicians on the left competing to see who can become the most radical?
What Happens Next:
In North Carolina, Cooper essentially issued an ultimatum to the state legislature: either expand Medicaid or teachers and state employees won’t get raises. How will that play out? Only time will tell. But it doesn’t sound very "consensus-building".

Arizona Teachers Get Pay Raises For New School Year
What Happened:
Teachers in Arizona are getting a 5% pay raise going into the new school year - that’s after getting a 10% raise last year.
Why You Should Care:
The raises are part of GOP Gov. Doug Ducey’s plan to raise teacher pay 20% by 2020. It’s also helping with recruitment to fill the state’s teaching vacancies - many of which are in special education.
What Happens Next:
Teachers start the school year with extra money in their pockets, which is great not only for them, but for students as well!
