Happy National Voter Registration Day, John!

We hope you’ll celebrate by reminding your friends and family to register to vote, update their voter registration, or check their status.

But here’s the truth: In the 38 states with voter ID laws, registering to vote is just the first step to casting a ballot that counts. Every registered voter across the country ALSO needs to do an ID check so they know what ID (if any) they need to show at the polls or what ID (if any) they need to vote by mail — or get an accepted form of ID if they don’t have one already.

With critical local and state elections coming up in November and a high-stakes presidential primary and general election next year, we don’t have a minute to waste. Share our voter ID resources with your friends and family and encourage them to do an ID check!

And if you or anyone you know doesn’t have an accepted form of voter ID, VoteRiders is here to help, for free! Our staff and volunteers are ready to help voters track down documents, schedule appointments and transportation, and cover the fees.
