Welcome to another edition of FT Now! In California, not everyone is
impressed with Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom's approach to the
homeless crisis. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem hit back at ex-New York
City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's disparaging comments about our
nation's farmers. Speaking of Bloomberg, he took his fair share of
whacks during Wednesday night's debate in Las Vegas. He may have left
the debate still standing, but definitely worse for wear. Read more

Nonpartisan Analysts: Newsom's Proposal To Address California's
Homeless Crisis Won't Have "Meaningful Impact"
What Happened:
New analysis shows that Governor Gavin Newson isn't doing much to fix
California's homelessness crisis - no matter what he says.
Why You Should Care:
While Edwards was running for re-election, he promised teachers a pay
raise. But now that's he's won his second term, it looks like he's
abandoned that promise - leaving teachers in the state feeling "shocked"
and "floored". It's almost as if Edwards just said whatever he had to
to get re-elected.
What Happens Next:
Newsom says addressing the crisis is a top priority for 2020, but all
signs point to him doubling down on his failed policies.

South Dakota Governor: "Who Does [Bloomberg] Think He Is" To Question
The Intelligence of Farmers?
What Happened:
Video surfaced this week of Democrat presidential candidate Michael
Bloomberg disparaging farmers, saying (among other things) that they
don't have the "gray matter" to adjust to the information age. South
Dakota GOP Gov. Kristi Noem fought back.
Why You Should Care:
In the words of Gov. Noem, "That comment is nothing but pompous
ignorance" - pretty much what we've all come to expect from the
Democratic presidential primary field.
What Happens Next:
Expect much more to come out about Bloomberg and his out-of-touch,
elitist...tendencies.

"Mini Mike" Savaged by Democratic Rivals in Nevada
What Happened:
Democratic presidential primary candidates gathered in Las Vegas for one
final debate before the Nevada caucus this weekend. It's safe to say
everyone's knives were pointed at debate newcomer Michael Bloomberg.
Why You Should Care:
Bloomberg has been spending millions on advertising, catapulting him
near the top of recent polls - which probably explains why every single
other candidate came ready with their attacks. Unfortunately for him,
Bloomberg seemed to fold under the pressure.
What Happens Next:
The Nevada Caucus takes place this Saturday. After that, it's on to
South Carolina!
