Yesterday, Governor Roy Cooper signed Medicaid expansion into law! Now, more than 600,000 North Carolinians will have access to the coverage and care they need. This is a BIG deal.

We couldn’t be prouder of the work that Governor Cooper and Democrats have put into this step forward for North Carolina over many years. It’s a major achievement delivered despite a decade of Republican stonewalling. Their support is better late than never, so I thank the entire legislature for its support of this important accomplishment.

Not only will Medicaid expansion save lives across our state, but it’ll also be good for our economy. We will create jobs, open rural health centers, and save our state money — in fact, we were losing money while Republicans blocked expansion.
