Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m excited to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. I want to take a moment to honor and remember the innocent lives that were tragically taken yesterday at The Covenant Elementary School in Nashville. Our country is heartbroken, especially for the families of the three children who were killed. Thank you to the first responders and law enforcement officers who responded to the scene. Please join me in praying for the families of the six victims and the entire community. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. This bill would unleash American energy and lower costs for families by increasing domestic energy production, reforming permitting processes, reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden Administration, streamlining energy infrastructure and exports, and boosting the production and processing of critical minerals. From his first day in office, President Biden launched an unprecedented war on American energy, which compromised our national security and caused energy prices to skyrocket. H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, will put an end to that, and I am proud to support it. I also have a full week of committee hearings. Today, I am attending a House Agriculture hearing featuring Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, where I will ask him about overregulation impacting farm country. This is a Farm Bill year, and the federal government should be listening to producers, not hamstringing them with burdensome red tape. This week, I will also attend subcommittee hearings for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Small Business Committee. In all that I do, the concerns, struggles, and values of those in the Big First are always in the front of my mind. I'll give an update from Washington, D.C., and answer your questions. I value taking this time to connect with Kansans across the Big First District and hearing about issues that are on your mind. Supporting Parents' Rights in their Child's Classroom For children to succeed, teachers and school administrators across America need to work together with parents, which the best schools in the Big First are already doing. Education starts at home – with family, church, and community. As a father of four, I am particularly proud to support the Parents Bill of Rights, which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives last week. Read the Full Text of the Parents Bill of Rights Here. Securing and Defending Precision Agriculture Precision agriculture is a critical tool for producers as they work tirelessly to feed, fuel, and clothe the world. Technological advancement has helped producers improve crop yields and make informed management decisions, but new technology brings new challenges. Last week, I introduced the Promoting Precision Agriculture Act, which would establish a partnership between the federal government and the private sector to create voluntary interconnectivity standards and prioritize the cybersecurity needs for precision agriculture technologies. The Promoting Precision Agriculture Act will ensure that producers have a seat at the table when Congress establishes new precision agriculture standards. No public institution should deny a religious student group any rights similarly afforded to other student organizations, simply because of the religious group’s beliefs, practices, or leadership standards. I cosponsor the Equal Campus Access Act, which would amend the Higher Education Act to say that no funds will be made available to a public institution that denies a religious student group their rights.   Mann.House.Gov Happening Across the Country Our nation's military veterans deserve our thanks and recognition for their service. Unfortunately, many Vietnam veterans didn't receive the thanks and support they deserve when they returned home. On March 29, Americans are uniting to pay special tribute to our Vietnam War veterans and their families. I am extremely grateful to the Vietnam veterans in the Big First District for their service and sacrifice. It is an honor to represent them in Congress. God bless our veterans.
