Hi! 👋 I’m Jenny, finance director for Tim Kaine’s 2024 Senate campaign.
You’ve probably noticed an increase in emails from political candidates across the country over the last couple of days. And it might even get a bit busier over the next 48 hours.
I get that fundraising solicitations can be intrusive, but I’d like to explain why they’re so important -- especially in the days leading up to the end of the quarter (March 31).
On Friday at midnight, we’ll close the books on our end-of-quarter deadline and report our fundraising numbers to the FEC. We set a goal of raising $70,000 before then -- here’s why:
When we report our numbers to the FEC, they become public for everyone -- the media, voters, and potential opponents -- to see. So if we have a good showing, we’ll project strength, confidence, and momentum at a time when we desperately need it.
So as Senator Kaine’s finance director, I have to ask: Will you pitch in a grassroots donation of any amount right now? [[link removed]]

In 2022, Democrats defied historical trends and held the Senate in what otherwise might’ve been a strong year for Republicans. There were many reasons for this, but one was that Democratic Senate candidates did an excellent job of out-raising their GOP counterparts.
We can do it again, but we need to start right now.
