We must be doing something right.

This seat just became a “top target” for the GOP.

We’re now on a list of 37 districts across the country that will be their primary focus in the next election. They’ve shown their hand early to send a clear message to their allies about which seats they want to flip.

Well, message received.

We’ve always known that we were going to face a very different situation heading into 2024.

Why? Because of redistricting.

Some of you already know this, but for those who don’t, it’s crucial that you do:

It looks like North Carolina’s congressional map will be completely redrawn before the next election.

I know that’s strange. The map has only existed for one election.

But there’s a state law that says if the court orders the map - which is what happened, after two failed attempts by the state legislature - then it only stands for one election.

At which point, the state legislature gets to redraw it.

The national GOP knows this, and that’s why they’ve made us a top target.

I’m telling you this now for two reasons:

First, because you deserve to know the political landscape headed into the next election.

Second, because it explains why we are starting early - just as early as the GOP - in gathering our defenses.

You don’t get emails like this too often from me. It’s only our second this year.

But they matter. This is how most of our support will come in.
