John, with Democratic incumbents in states Trump won in 2020 — Montana, Ohio, West Virginia — our candidates have one major advantage: Incumbency.

While MAGA candidates jockey for primary positions, we have an extremely narrow window of opportunity to build up our resources and begin investing in the campaign infrastructure we’ll need to get in front early before the inevitable pile-on from GOP megadonors begins.

I was proud to travel the country last year supporting Democratic candidates running for Senate. In Nevada, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, and Pennsylvania — all states where we took this campaign on the road — the end result was decided by under 5 points.

And the bottom line is, if my showing up can help turn out more volunteers for phone banking, launching door-to-door canvassing, or hosting organizing meetings, those volunteers’ efforts can result in reaching hundreds — if not thousands — of additional voters.
