John, Today, the world will mark 75 years since the liberation of the killing factory at Auschwitz, where more than one million Jews and many others were systematically murdered by the Nazi regime. With seven and a half decades gone by, memories fade but mine will not. This past summer I visited Yad Vashem during my first visit to Israel. The shocking reality of the Holocaust will forever be inscribed in my memory. Sadly, evil and hatred still exist today, and I am deeply alarmed by the rise in attacks on Jewish New Yorkers over the past year. Rest assured that I will not remain silent in the face of hate, nor will New York’s Republican Party.
