Donald Trump is back on social media platforms.

Hey there --

Ugh -- the Big Tech Friday news dump was particularly bleak yesterday:

  • YouTube announced it would reinstate Donald Trump’s account, coincidentally the same day he released a video calling the 2020 election “stolen” and demanding that January 6th insurrectionists be released from prison. [1]

  • Just a few hours later, Trump posted on Facebook for the first time, weeks after Meta reinstated his account last month, despite his “use of [the] platform to incite violent insurrection” in Mark Zuckerberg’s own words. [2]

Already this morning Trump has taken to social media to urge supporters to protest and “take back our nation.” [3] Having Trump back on social media platforms hands him a megaphone for his extremism and disinformation. Our research found more than 350 posts last year from his own platform, Truth Social, fueled violence, spread election lies, and promoted domestic terrorist organizations like QAnon. [4]

Big Tech companies have turned their back on our democracy for profit. But we're not letting them off the hook. Friend, help us hold Big Tech accountable for putting profits over users' safety and our democracy. Will you support this critical work by chipping in today?

CHIP IN

As we learned earlier this week, Big Tech is knowingly addicting and exploiting our kids — and now they’re knowingly undermining and compromising our democracy. We’re an 11-person nonprofit going up against some of the most powerful companies in the world. Help us fight back by chipping in to support our work.

We've witnessed the dangers of Trump’s presence on social media platforms, and reinstating his YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts only puts American lives and our democracy at risk. We can’t normalize his behavior – our democracy depends on it.
