Gun violence is part of daily life in America, John.
Whether it’s using bullet-proof vests, DNA kits and metal detectors, practicing lockdown drills, or arming teachers, we are the first generation to grow up with the trauma of gun violence.
We are lucky to be alive in a country where gun violence is the number one cause of death for children. Since our movement began five years ago, March For Our Lives has been doing everything we can to break the cycle of shooting after shooting and demand our leaders act with the urgency the gun violence crisis demands.
Next week, we’ll be taking action in five states to mark the 5th anniversary of our movement’s founding. It’s a major undertaking, so I’m asking for a huge favor:
We’re only one week out until we march again. Will you contribute $5 or more to help us close the gap and cover the costs of our five 5-year anniversary rallies? Every dollar makes a difference in our fight:
Only in America can a journalist get shot on the job while covering a shooting. Or a 6-year child can access a gun and shoot their teacher. Or my peers in Michigan can experience mass shootings in high school and college within 15 months of each other.
By bringing millions of people together again, we are sending a powerful message to every cowardly leader who refuses to act on gun safety reform: our movement isn’t going anywhere.
In solidarity,
Mikah Rector-Brooks

(P.S. We’re rallying in states across the country in exactly 7 days to demand legislators act NOW to protect young people. Sign up for a rally near you!)
