͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌Today, a court in Texas heard arguments about prohibiting the distribution of mifepristone, FDA-approved medication for the termination of pregnancy. This form of medication abortion makes up more than half of all abortions in our country, and if FDA approval of these pills is reversed, 40 million Americans could lose access to this safe, effective medication.

All eyes are on Texas today because the court could issue a nationwide injunction on dispensing the medication, upending the process and undoing the authority of FDA to approve safe and effective medical products.
And they should stay here. Because what we are seeing in Texas courts is the full spectrum of the assault on our freedom and the disastrous consequences for people here — and the implications for people everywhere.
Two lawsuits filed in Texas last week show the terrifying scope of what is happening here after SB 8 and the devastating consequences for Texas women.
Last week, two other cases landed in Texas courts. On Wednesday, five Texas women who were denied abortions while facing medical crises because of Texas’ restrictive abortion law, and had to leave the state to get care, sued the state.
On Thursday, a Texas man filed a lawsuit against friends of his ex-wife after she allegedly ended her pregnancy, claiming wrongful death and seeking more than $1 million in damages based on Texas’ draconian abortion laws passed in the last legislative session.

These lawsuits tell important stories of what is happening here. And these stories tell us just how irresponsible, dangerous, and cruel these laws are. We can and must end these terrible laws in our legislature. The way we do that is by winning elections.
That’s why our work together — on this campaign and campaigns across the state and the country — is so vital. [[link removed]]
I will continue doing everything I can to protect our freedom — freedoms that are under attack not only in Texas but everywhere. I’m proud of my work in Congress to defend our fundamental right to make our own decisions about our bodies, our families, and our futures. And I am going to work to make sure that we hold this seat, win back the House, and elect more pro-choice champions everywhere we can.
I hope you will help, too. If you are able, a contribution today would be a great place to start. [[link removed]]
