BYD's membership has spoken, and we're proud to announce our slate of endorsed candidates for the 2023 City Council primaries.

These six outstanding community leaders are committed to fighting on behalf of young Brooklynites to create the city we need and deserve.

Now, it's time to get to work.

Join us for a weekend of action as we collect signatures to get two of our endorsed candidates on the ballot! This work is vital; our endorsed candidates can't continue their crucial service in the City Council without getting elected first!

On Saturday, meet us bright and early ([link removed]) at Fort Greene Park to get Council Member Crystal Hudson on the ballot!

Crystal was first elected in 2021, when she made history as one of the first out gay Black women in New York City elected office. Since then, Crystal has introduced over 40 bills ([link removed]) in the Council, with a special focus on supporting seniors ([link removed]) and making childcare more affordable ([link removed]) .

Help us get Crystal re-elected ([link removed]) to the City Council so she can continue that crucial work!

Then, join us Sunday afternoon at Bushwick Public House to support another progressive champion: Council Member Sandy Nurse!

Sandy is a long-time community organizer; before becoming a Council Member, she founded BK ROT ([link removed]) and was a co-founder of the Mayday Space. ([link removed]) In her time at the Council, she's advocated for more robust tenant protections, funding for public schools, and forward-thinking sanitation policies like universal composting.

Now, Sandy needs our support to get on the ballot and get back to work in the Council. Join us! ([link removed])

We're excited to introduce the 2023 BYD Board of Directors! Our Board is made up of a diverse group of young people from across Brooklyn with experience in policy, law and community service. We're proud to serve the borough's only official Young Democrats club, and can't wait to fight alongside you for a better Brooklyn!
