Dear Georgian,

President Biden released his $6.9 trillion budget proposal last week, which is the highest budget proposal in history.

This proposal is full of far-left overspending that will cripple our economy and increase the already out-of-control deficit.

Currently, tax revenues are at an all time high, yet the Biden administration is still overspending at dangerous levels. I oppose this reckless budget and am working with my Republican colleagues to address overspending in Washington.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on Twitter.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Attending House Intelligence Committee's Unclassified Hearing

Last week, the House Select Committee on Intelligence had our first unclassified hearing to discuss worldwide threats.

During my time, I stressed the importance of declassifying information about Communist Chinese espionage to FBI Director Christopher Wray and other intelligence officials.

Corporate America needs to know the extent of the CCP's malicious actions against our country, and they need to stop doing business with our adversaries.

Supporting Legislation that Disapproves New WOTUS Rule

The last thing our farmers need are more burdensome federal regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that hinder their operations.

The EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have the authority to regulate what they deem to be "navigable waters," under regulation known as the Waters of the United States (WOTUS).

This ruling affects more than just farmers; it also adds regulations for homebuilders, private property owners, manufacturers, small businesses, infrastructure builders, water districts, local governments, and more.

The EPA and Army Corps of Engineers recently updated the WOTUS definition, and this new WOTUS ruling creates unclear regulatory guidance that disrupts normal farming activities by requiring complicated federal permits to manage their own land.

The new WOTUS rule also makes economic development more complex and increases the costs to invest in U.S. land and businesses.

Earlier this year, I sent a letter to the EPA and Corps of Engineers urging them to rescind this damaging decision, and I joined colleagues in voting yes on legislation that expresses Congressional disapproval of the new WOTUS rule.

Declassifying the Origins of COVID-19

On Friday, the House of Representatives passed legislation to require the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information about the origins of COVID-19.

I voted yes on this legislation and joined House Intelligence Committee colleagues in debating this legislation on the floor before the vote.

In 2020, I tested positive for COVID-19, and I was in the hospital for a week and was on oxygen for 14 days. I am fortunate that I recovered, but many were not as fortunate.

The American people deserve to know where exactly this virus started and any details surrounding the origins of this virus that launched the globe into chaos, especially if the CCP was not fully transparent during times that could have saved lives.

Newsmax | Rep. Austin Scott to Newsmax: Companies Must Cut Ties With China

"Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., told Newsmax on Tuesday that U.S. companies should 'break the ties with communist China' and relocate their business interests in the country following a report on the potential for Chinese-made cranes being used for spying.

Scott said on 'National Report' that if China's 'leadership has an ownership interest in anything inside the United States, it's going to be used to spy on American citizens and the American government. And so with cranes, they get to see what's being loaded onto ships and they know where that is going. And so anyone who thinks … that the Chinese Communist Party is a friend of the United States is just simply wrong.'"
