It was recently the 47th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, but 205 GOP members of Congress hope that it is its last.
They submitted a letter to the Supreme Court asking them to undo Roe v. Wade and destroy bodily autonomy and the right to choose in March when the Court hears a Louisiana abortion case. This means they could overturn Roe v. Wade and end legal abortion in the U.S. before the 2020 election.
The Supreme Court, with Trump’s hand-picked, anti-choice justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh in the lead, has already been taking steps toward dismantling these rights, rejecting a challenge to a Kentucky law requiring doctors to perform ultrasounds and play a fetal heartbeat to those seeking abortions.
