Gov. Justice to hold two bill signing ceremonies tomorrow
|

WHEN: Monday, March 13, 2023.
WHAT: Gov. Justice will hold two bill signing ceremonies for bills passed by the West Virginia Legislature.
11:00 a.m.
- SB 490 - Patrol Officer Cassie Marie Johnson Memorial Act
- The purpose of this bill is to create the offense of knowingly and willfully obstructing a law enforcement officer, probation officer, parole officer, courthouse security officer, correctional officer, the State Fire Marshal, a deputy or assistant fire marshal, firefighter, or emergency medical service personnel engaged in their official duties and thereby causing the death of the person acting in his or her official capacity.
- SB 294 - Clarifying amount of deputy sheriff annual salary increase
- The purpose of the SB 294 is to clarify the language regarding the Deputy Sheriff Retirement System annual monetary supplement.

- SB 237 - Relating to Public Employees Retirement System and State Teachers Retirement System
- The bill provides a one-time $1,500 bonus payment to current state retirees at least age 70 on July 1, 2023 that have at least 20 years of total service and their monthly retirement benefit is less than $1,000. The bill also provides a $1,000 per month minimum benefit for current state retirees at least age 70 on July 1, 2023 that have at least 25 years of total service and currently receiving a benefit less than $1,000 per month.
