Wild History

CCC at Fort Parker State Park

This year we are celebrating 100 years of Texas State Parks!?Many parks were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). CCC Company 3807 constructed the dam that formed Fort Parker Lake (pictured) and the buildings and roads in the park.?Today, we manage 29 CCC-built parks. We strive to tell their stories and preserve their historic architecture. The cabins, shelters, trails, bridges and refectories help contribute to these parks' distinctive character.?

Wild About Giving Back?

Image of Caddo Lake State Park

Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation is raising $2 million to fund much-needed projects at all Texas State Parks during their centennial anniversary.

From a braille trail to interpret ?the auditory features of the wild outdoors at Caddo Lake State Park (pictured) to a new planetarium to watch wild night skies at Resaca de la Palma State Park, projects at all Texas State Parks will bolster park offerings while delighting visitors for generations to come.

A group of Centennial Champions are also going wild about this effort by matching all gifts dollar-for-dollar!

Give back to the park closest to your heart. Donate today!
