** Friday File
------------------------------------------------------------

It's been another action-packed week at the KSGOP!

Our whole team has been busy working for you and as your KSGOP Chairman, I've been meeting with Republicans in Topeka and throughout Kansas. I've had many discussions involving fundraising, recruiting Republicans, electing Republicans, and community outreach.

RNC

I've had several calls with the Republican National Committee staff on many issues. Most of my calls have been to educate myself on policy and procedures, but I've also visited with some of my State Party Chair counterparts. These conversations have been enlightening, especially as many states elected Conservative Non-Establishment Republican leadership this year in their state just like Kansas did with our leadership team. These new leaders across America face the same struggles, concerns, and obstacles we've encountered here in Kansas. The similarities are remarkable. After a month of hard work, endless meetings and phone calls, these struggles have ebbed. Onward!

Legislative Bills

This week the KSGOP submitted written testimony on bills in consideration at the Kansas Legislature, where the Republican Party perspective was requested and provided. It is an honor to have the opportunity as Chairman to share this testimony and work with our state legislators.

GOP Presidential Caucus vs. Primary

An extensive discussion started this week regarding the pros and cons of a presidential caucus versus a regular presidential primary election. A caucus is less expensive than a primary, BUT it is hugely human-capital intensive. I worked on the caucus in 2016 and I’ve seldom been more exhausted than I was that night. Please share your thoughts with your Kansas State Legislators and with us, as the funding for a primary election is that of the state vs. a caucus which is the financial responsibility of Kansas Republicans.

I prefer the winner-take-all primary election model and I want your opinion. What say you?

Friendly Advice

I had meetings this week with some long-time friends in the Kansas legislature, and I heard their offers of assistance, guidance and sage advice. Lunch with old friends is sometimes exactly what it takes to get a new idea rolling or to put something into perspective.

Thank you to these folks who, this week, made me a better leader!

2023 Budget & KSGOP Executive Committee

Our team has also been busy getting the KSGOP 2023 Budget put together for the Kansas Republican State Executive Committee.

Per the by-laws, the budget is due to this group by March 15th. The budget will be delivered on time.

When this step is completed next week and delivered, we will then focus on a meeting request by some members of the Executive Committee.

Candidate Recruitment

On a more positive note, one lady I met with this week has already recruited 6 Republican candidates for six available seats in a single city in Kansas! Another group has recruited 4 Republicans for their school board races. So far, we are over 30 candidates recruited who will bring the Republican perspective to local boards and councils where it is needed!

Outreach

Regarding outreach, please let us know if you want the KSGOP to come to your region, county, or city! We want to see and help you!
