The latest news from Congresswoman Van Duyne   Washington, D.C. – On Monday, I met with members of our community to discuss challenges impacting our area and provide an update on my work to deliver results for North Texans. I toured the North Texas Emergency Communications Center and discussed my work to improve public safety. After returning to Washington on Tuesday, I welcomed a group of dedicated nursing and respiratory therapy students and professionals from West Coast University and American Career College. You can watch my remarks on the House floor here. On Wednesday, I heard directly from small business owners about the impact of the Biden Administration's proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. This rule adds unnecessary red tape and makes it harder for our nation's entrepreneurs to achieve the American dream, which is why I joined colleagues from both sides of the aisle in voting to disapprove of the rule. You can watch our Small Business Committee hearing here. I also met with Texans who visited D.C. on behalf of the National Hemophilia Foundation and appreciated the opportunity to hear their opinions on legislation before Congress. I remain focused on stopping tax hikes for working families. Today, I pushed back on President Biden's proposed tax hikes and asked Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to defend these disastrous policies during our Ways and Means Committee hearing, which you can watch here. My colleagues and I will continue to hold the Biden Administration accountable for creating record-high inflation and raising our taxes. Texas-24 Work of the Week As I continue my work and we get closer to hitting the debt ceiling, I'm pleased to share that the Ways and Means Committee passed H.R. 187, the Default Prevention Act. This legislation will ensure that we avoid default and protect seniors, service members, and veterans. It will hold the President and lawmakers accountable by withholding pay until all other obligations are met. Hometown Hero Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero of the week is Dr. Mohamed Ebeida, founder of the Marvels program that aims to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders within the Muslim community in North Texas. I want to thank Dr. Ebeida for going above and beyond for our community. Nominate a Hometown Hero 2023 North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum As a Member of Congress, I have the honor of nominating exceptional #TX24 individuals to our nation’s service academies. I’m pleased to announce that the 2023 North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum will take place on April 1, 2023. Learn more here: [link removed] Rep. Van Duyne in the News Read Rep.
