Here are a Couple of Reasons Why Sharing your Story Matters.

Dear Friend,

Last week, you heard the exciting news of the relaunch of our updated Right To Be’s Storytelling Platform. (Check it out now) To all of you who have shared your stories and showed up for others, we want to thank you deeply for your support. You are helping us create a world filled with humanity where we turn the care we have for each other into simple, creative, and effective action.

We want to continue to hold space for people experiencing harassment, and  remind everyone that we all have the #RightToBeHeard.  That is why we have committed to reaching the goal of collecting 100 stories in one week. Will you help us reach this goal?  You can share an experience that happened yesterday or years ago. It can be something you experienced yourself but also an episode that you witnessed and intervened in. All stories are welcome. All stories matter and can make a difference! Share it now!

There are many benefits to sharing your experiences, not just for yourself, but for others who may be in need. Here are a few reasons why you'll be making a HUGE impact by sharing your story:

  • Research has shown that sharing your story can support your healing and reduce trauma.
  • It also helps shift your understanding of your experience of harassment from the realm of the personal “this happens to me” to the realm of the societal” that requires collaboration from different areas of our society."
  • Sharing your story helps build a network of support by reminding others they aren’t alone
  • Gives other people and organizations important information on where and how harassment is happening.
  • Amplifies the stories of people experiencing harassment and bystanders and helps make harassment visible.

At Right To Be, we strive to make sure that no one has to go through harassment alone. Remember that on our platform you can also support women  and gender-expansive journalists and others who have experienced online harassment. We want them to know that they have a community to lean on in their time of need. Take a stand against unwarranted harassment, join this community now, share your story and be an ally!

With love,
Right To Be  (formerly Hollaback!
