Trump Approves, the House Should Too

TPPF [[link removed]]

I would like to thank the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) for having me speak at their 2023 Policy Summit last week. We are working hard to make sure that we keep Texas, Texas.

Earlier that day, Speaker Phelan said if a bill is good enough for the House, TPPF, and Trump, it should be good enough for the Senate. I could not resist with my response. You can click here to watch a brief video [[link removed]] from my speech where I talk about this.

At CPAC a few days later, Trump supported school choice, ending gender modification, and stopping boys from playing girls' sports – three of my priority bills, SB 8, SB 14, and SB 15, so with the Speaker's logic, they should be good enough for the House.

→ SB 8 – Empowering Parental Rights – Including School Choice: We will pass legislation to give parents more power to choose where their child attends school.

→ SB 14 – Ending Child Gender Modification: We must end child gender modification in Texas and protect our children.

→ SB 15 – Protecting Women’s College Sports: Men should not be able to take away opportunities from women in sports. We must ban this practice in public universities as we did in K-12.

I talked with President Trump this week. He is all in on these key conservative issues, as is conservative think tank TPPF.

I trust the Speaker will remember what he said – if it's good enough for the Senate, TPPF, and Trump, it should be good enough for the House.

Texas Pastors' Day at the Capitol

It was great speaking at the Texas Pastors' Day at the Capitol on Thursday morning. It was an honor to join them. Their faith is inspiring to us all.

Texas Energy Day at the Capitol

I also had the privilege to join the Texas Oil & Gas Association for their Energy Day at the Capitol. The oil and gas industry is the backbone of our economy. They pay over 24 billion dollars in taxes to Texas…that's 67 million dollars every 24 hours. They employ over 400,000 people directly and indirectly. They represent about 30% of our economy. They contribute significant money to education and fund our Rainy Day Fund.

Yet, the left wants to destroy this industry in the name of climate change. That would destroy Texas and America.

The oil and gas industry keeps Texas and America strong and the Texas Senate will pass bills this session that continue to support and grow this industry, as always.

Crime Continues to Rise in Harris County

Carjackers [[link removed]] [[link removed]]

Crime continues to rise [[link removed]] in Harris County, Texas as judges let thugs with prior arrests back on the streets. Thankfully, the citizen was not harmed.

One of my priorities this session is SB 23, which will put a 10-year mandatory sentence stacked on any crime using a gun.

A Look Inside of My Garage

Car Guy Garage posts pictures of home garages from around the country. They selected a few photos from my garage that houses my 1952 Chevy truck. The black and white photos on the wall are of my dad (on the right with the open shirt) just before he joined the Marines during WWII, where he served in the South Pacific. He was offered a chance to join the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league baseball team after the war, but passed to get married and start his life. He told me he didn't think he would make the majors.

The other picture to the left, of the oil truck, was his father. They are great family reminders for me every day and a cool way to decorate a garage.

The bike is the one I got as a child at about 10 years old. I found one on eBay a few years ago, and everytime I see it, it takes me right back to my childhood.

"Alligators don’t make good pets, y’all," says Game Warden

On a lighter note…a Texas alligator was recently seized [[link removed]] after living in a woman’s backyard for more than 20 years. "Alligators don’t make good pets, y’all," Texas Game Wardens posted with the rescue video on Facebook.

Thank you all for your support and everything you do to make Texas the greatest place on earth. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,
