Dear friend,

As we celebrate Women's History Month, I wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the important contributions women have made throughout Massachusetts history.

From Deborah Sampson, who disguised herself as a man to fight in the Revolutionary War, to Abigail Adams and her advocacy for women's rights and education, to the early suffragettes like Lucy Stone and Susan B. Anthony, our Commonwealth has a rich history of trailblazing women who have made an invaluable impact on our society.

Even today, I have the honor of serving Massachusetts alongside history-making women like Governor Maura Healey , the nation's first openly lesbian governor, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll , part of the first all women team to lead a state, Rep. Ayanna Pressley , the first black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts, and Senator Elizabeth Warren , the first woman to represent our Commonwealth in the U.S. Senate. As elected officials, we owe it to all the great women who helped pave the way for us to be where we are today.

But while we have come a long way from where we started, there is still a lot of work to be done . Despite electing historic numbers of women to the halls of Congress in recent years, women’s rights are in more danger now than they have been in decades. That’s why, since I first took office, I have always championed legislation that defends women .

I was an original co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act , a critical piece of legislation that would protect women's access to reproductive healthcare, including abortion services, and I have also supported legislation that would close the gender pay gap and ensure that women have the same opportunities to succeed in the workplace as their men counterparts.

Friend, with extremists in the GOP emboldened by the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision to overturn Roe , we need to fight even harder to protect our rights. Can I count on your support as I continue to fight for women's rights and gender equality in Congress? [[link removed]]
