Namaste, Tashi Delek!

We would like to invite you to Nari Diwas, our annual Women’s Day celebration. Nari Diwas will be held at P.S. 12 on Sunday, March 5 from 12 to 5 pm.

This year Nari Diwas will center on the theme “DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equity.” Together we’ll be celebrating our work on adult literacy at the intersection of gender, language, and technology.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted our traditional ways of training, organizing, and community building. Following the initial wave in March 2020, we had no option but to go fully online - conducting online workforce development classes, organizing, training, and supporting members.

During that time, we saw that gender, English literacy, and digital literacy gaps played a huge role in our member’s ability to access resources and organizing opportunities But our members rose to the challenge and since then have proven over and again that any job is also a woman's job - breaking traditional barriers by being on the frontlines of digital transformation.

Join us this Sunday to hear directly from our members who are working towards achieving gender equity through digital literacy, for workers’ rights, immigrant rights, health access, language, and youth justice.

The event will start at 12 pm with a Tibetan and Nepali lunch buffet and the program will follow with cultural performances, a conversation with member leaders and staff and a DJ. Looking forward to seeing you all in person.

Best,

The Adhikaar team
