You Have the #RightToBeHeard, and We are Here For You!

Dear Friend,

We are reaching out to share some exciting news with you: today, we are relaunching Right To Be’s Storytelling Platform, a safe space where you can share any type of harassment story, get support, and help others experiencing harassment. (Check it out now)

We
started collecting stories of street harassment in 2005 and have held a space for people experiencing harassment for affirmation and support on our website. After going through a rebranding process in 2022, we worked to re-design and improve our storytelling platform.

With the generous support of Craig Newmark Philanthropies, we also worked to integrate HeartMob (our tool to share online harassment stories and receive support from bystanders) into our website and brand Right To Be (formerly Hollaback.) As a result, we have created a unique platform that will uplift all experiences with harassment.

We believe this shift allows us to better capture the experience of harassment and provides two important functions to those who really need it: a platform to share their truth, no matter what that is and where it happened, and a community of bystanders who are committed to support.

On our platform, people experiencing online harassment can receive support and help others by sending messages of support or documenting or reporting abuse on social media platforms.

Knowing that women and gender-expansive journalists experience disproportionate levels of online harassment just for doing their jobs, Right To Be’s Storytelling Platform also provides support to journalists. They can create a special  “journalist account” to  receive more specific and attentive support from colleagues and allies.

In addition, people can also access the Online Violence Response Hub,  a project of the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), under the banner of the Coalition Against Online Violence, which provides the latest resources and information on online harassment.

Share your story and help us spread the word with your networks and communities:

With love,
