Below is a message from the Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin about an
April election that will decide the balance of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. This
race will help decide the future of voting, civil, and abortion rights in the
state.

Hi, it’s
Ben Wikler, the Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. In a moment,
[ [link removed] ]I’m going to ask you for a $10 donation to support our
team’s Get out the Vote operation ahead of our critical election. But
first, I’d like to explain what’s at stake:

Now that the 2022 midterm election season is over, one of the things I
hear most from Democratic supporters is that they’re demoralized.

I often focus on what Democratic activists in Wisconsin and nationwide
have accomplished. We expanded our Democratic Senate majority and
massively outperformed expectations in the U.S. House. In Wisconsin, we
elected a Democratic Governor while a Democrat was President for the first
time since 1962. That’s nothing to scoff at.

Still, the odds are stacked against us in many places in the country,
including Wisconsin. I know it can feel disheartening, but what if I told you
we have a real shot to undo the Republican death grip on our legislature?
Well, that’s exactly what’s at stake in our Supreme Court of Wisconsin
race on April 4, 2023.

Right now, the balance of our Court is 4-3, tilted in the conservatives’
favor, and my team at WisDems has a chance to replace a conservative
justice with Janet Protasiewicz, a strong pro-democracy candidate who will
represent our values.

We’ve been investing in our organizing and voter protection programs
year-round to win in this moment and upend this power structure. We could
have a chance to level the playing field, fix our gerrymandered maps,
strike down our 1849 criminal abortion ban, and safeguard democracy
nationwide, but we’ll need to tap into the same supporter momentum that
allowed us to win this November.
