John,

Everyday, we work to make a difference for faith & family and that starts with prayer and keeping you informed. At Texas Values, we are strongly pro-life, and that means not only protecting babies in the womb, but also protecting and supporting the baby and mother after birth.

Our friend Abby Johnson tells us that $200 can be the difference in whether or not a woman has an abortion. California Governor Gavin Newsom has erected billboard signs in Texas trying to bribe pregnant Texas women to travel to California to have an abortion. We can’t let California liberals prey on our Texas women. That’s one of the many reasons why we are supporting strong funding of the Alternatives to Abortion program during the Texas Legislative session so we can help with the expanding needs of moms and babies in post-Roe America and stand strong as a Pro-Life state!

In late January, we celebrated the overturn of Roe v. Wade at the 50th annual March for Life. This is the first year for a Post-Roe America, and that means you can expect to see a lot of policy proposals and adjustments as more babies will be born now all across our country. Texas is leading the charge through the Alternatives to Abortion Program and has allocated over 100 Million dollars over a two-year period to pregnancy centers and other non-profit efforts to support mothers and babies up to 3 years old. Plus with the Texas Heartbeat Law upheld 3 TIMES, we have avoided over 100,000 abortions! We are in our state legislative session right now and would love to see that doubled to 200 million in funding as we move forward. We do this work because we care about people and want the best for Texans!

The Texas state legislature started its 140-day session in January. If lawmakers want to continue to counteract the devastating legacy left behind by legalized abortion, then they must vote to increase the budget. Pro-life politicians’ responsibility to ensure women and children have access to resources did not end with the court’s reversal of the 1973 decision (originating in Texas) that legalized abortion nationwide. If anything, the ruling last summer only amplified individual states’ responsibility to provide alternatives to abortion now that the issue has returned to the state level.

Now that Roe has been overturned, there is no excuse to hold back when it comes to offering life affirming help to mothers and families. This is how we build a culture of life in a post-Roe era.
