Friends – First and foremost, I wanted to say thank you!

Generous supporters like you are the reason that I will become the next
State Senator in the Commonwealth of Kentucky – and will become one of
only four pro-choice women in that chamber in a state that has effectively
banned abortion.

State legislatures are on the frontlines to restore, defend, and expand
our reproductive rights after the overturning of Roe v. Wade – but we’re
also on the frontlines on everything from gerrymandering to gun violence
to the environment, voting rights, and family leave.

Last year 314 Action supported more than 100 pro-choice women who ran for
state and local office who have a background in STEM. Of those, nearly
three dozen were pro-choice women with backgrounds in healthcare like
nurses, physicians, and pharmacists.

Despite predictions that 2022 would be a devastating year for Democrats,
this was the first time since 1934 that the Party that controls the White
House hasn’t lost control of a single state legislative chamber.

And thanks in part to their efforts, Democrats won new majorities in state
legislative chambers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Minnesota last
November against all odds.

Right now, we’re witnessing the largest volume of bills designed to
suppress the vote, restrict women’s reproductive freedoms, and to curtail
LGBTQ+ rights in modern history. You have my word that I will do all that
I can to fight back against them here in Kentucky – but it’s going to take
all of us doing our part to win these tough fights here and across the
country.
