If it wasn’t already clear that Kevin McCarthy would be a right-wing leader, controlled by the extremists in his own party, it ought to be clear now.

In his effort to become Speaker of the House, McCarthy promised that he’d release security footage from the January 6th attack, and that’s exactly what he’s done — by giving it all to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

Yes, the same Tucker Carlson who has been slandering me, the same Tucker Carlson who has espoused replacement theory on the air and given white supremacists a prime time megaphone — that’s who Kevin McCarthy decided to entrust with the video footage from the January 6th insurrection.

We went from having a somber, bi-partisan investigation conducted by the January 6th Committee under Democratic control, to evidence being given directly to Tucker Carlson under Republican control.

The contrast is stark in how seriously each political party takes its responsibility to the American people. Democrats want accountability. Republicans want a circus.
