Today, I’ve reaffirmed our commitment to running a relentlessly positive campaign in 2020.

As Kiwis, we recognise the importance of robust political debate. We question. We challenge our perspectives and views. But we also value fairness and facts. As a Party, we want to create an environment that is free from misinformation so that people can make fair and informed reflections about what they want for the future of New Zealand.

It is incredibly important for us that New Zealand does not fall into the negative style of campaigning that has taken place overseas in the past, and that New Zealanders can continue to have faith in the words and actions of those that they choose to represent them.

That’s why today, we’ve said we’ll be signing up to Facebook’s ad transparency tool to ensure that our campaign ad messaging and spending will be visible to anyone who wants to see. We’ve also announced that our major new election policies will be independently costed and verified so that voters can be clear on what they are voting for.

We’re proud of this decision, but to keep building on this and grow our positive, values-driven campaign ahead of this year’s election, we need you.
