“What can Democrats accomplish in a divided Congress?”

Hey John,

I wanted to reach out to speak honestly about a question that many of you have probably been wondering about:

“What can Democrats accomplish in a divided Congress?”

The honest answer is: A whole heck of a lot.

The Senate is responsible for passing legislation, but we are also responsible for confirming presidential nominations to their posts. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, this is a responsibility that I take very seriously — and why I’m so proud of this next point:

As of this week, the Senate has confirmed 105 judicial appointments under President Biden.

We’re confirming judges at a faster pace than under the Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations.

Judges that will defend the Constitution and protect our freedoms against radical MAGA Republicans trying to push extreme legislation through the states.

Thanks to your tireless support during the 2022 midterm elections, we picked up the crucial Senate seat we needed to not only gain a 51-49 majority, but also an outright majority on the Judiciary Committee — meaning the pace of judicial confirmations will be picking up even more steam these next two years.

While Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the Republican caucus on the other side of the Capitol are too preoccupied with playing political games than serving the American people, our progress in the Senate will march on.

I have you to thank for that, John.

So while I have your attention, and in order to keep our progress going, I have to respectfully ask:

Will you contribute just $10 to my campaign today to help me defend our Democratic Senate majority, continue to confirm judges that will protect and defend our Constitutional rights, and ensure we protect our progress again in 2024?

Sometimes, the most consequential work that happens in Washington isn’t what attracts the most headlines, but it is essential to the future of our country.

Thanks for being such an important member of our team as we keep up that work.

With love and gratitude,
