Usually, the phrase "record-breaking" would be in reference to something positive. However, when it comes to the Biden Administration's economic policy, it is profoundly negative.   Unprecedented "Record-Breaking" from the Biden Administration Usually, the phrase "record-breaking" would be in reference to something positive. However, when it comes to the Biden Administration's economic policy, it is profoundly negative. Let's break down some important numbers: the price of eggs has increased by over 70%, fuel oil by over 27.7%, airline fares by over 25%, and food served at elementary schools by over 300%. These are not just hypothetical numbers—they represent $10,000 less buying power than families had just two years ago! It's more important than ever for us to get our economy back on track. The amount of wasteful government spending that has occurred over the past two years is has resulted in the national debt being raised to over $31 trillion, or over $94,000 per person. I have heard from many Central Washingtonians who have expressed that this sort of economic "record-breaking" is unsustainable for their wallets. America needs a new path forward, and I am committed to bringing back main street businesses and ensuring entrepreneurs and small business owners have an economic environment they can succeed in. The FFA program teaches invaluable skills like leadership, responsibility, and work ethic, and I am proud to support this program. The future of agriculture in America is in the hands of the young, and I am confident they will rise to the occasion. Holding the IRS Accountable The IRS is plagued with casework backlogs, chaotic hiring practices, and loads of red tape, causing annual returns and employee tax credits owed to small businesses to be held hostage. I recently met with a small business owner who was having problems getting his request processed, and after personally reaching out to the IRS, my office was thankfully able to expedite the funds that were owed to him. I refuse to let bloated government agencies and burdensome regulations stand in the way of Central Washington's prosperity. If the IRS refuses to process requests in a timely manner, I will step in and work tirelessly to get our taxpayers their hard-earned money back!     The Fight Against Fentanyl This month, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been making headlines due to their aggressive surveillance tactics. But we must discuss a more covert and insidious attempt at harming U.S. citizens: their production of fentanyl precursor chemicals. Chinese crime syndicates operating with the knowledge of the CCP have been manufacturing these dangerous chemicals to sell to the Mexican cartels, knowing it will end up getting smuggled over our southern border. To combat this, I introduced the Save Americans from the Fentanyl Emergency Act last month. This legislation permanently schedules all fentanyl-based substances as Schedule I drugs, unless already scheduled or exempt, to ensure law enforcement can continue to prosecute the sale of these dangerous substances. But we cannot stop there. More needs to be done to protect our citizens, and I will continue to explore any and all options to do so.
