I've had enough.

Hi John,

Last month, I was attacked by a whole bunch of right-wing media outlets for defending President Biden. And later on, my team sent you an email talking about the GOP tactics of systemic dehumanization, especially against people of color.

Republicans took Rep. Ilhan Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee.

They vilify Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

They treat Rep. Maxine Waters with contempt.

Republicans attack anyone with a loud and progressive voice, especially if they’re a woman or a person of color.

So it was not surprising to see the same racist tropes and stereotypes in Republican Nikki Haley’s video announcing her 2024 presidential run. But it did hit differently, because Haley herself is a person of color, the daughter of Indian immigrants.

In her video, Haley attacks the 1619 Project, which brings attention to our country’s history of slavery. She falsely portrays Democratic policies as a threat to the country. She goes out of her way to try to portray Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in a bad light. She demonizes strong progressives and belittles people of color. And I’m tired of it.

I’m tired of being dehumanized by the other side.

I’m tired of being ridiculed when we speak our minds.

I’m tired of being a punching bag.

If Nikki Haley wants to see a true threat to our country, she should start by looking carefully at her own party.
