Dear fellow Brooklynites,
Are you looking for an opportunity to get plugged into local politics this year? Want to meet the people running to represent you in local government? Are you passionate about an issue, and want to ensure your local representative is aware of it?
We've got you covered.
Join BYD ([link removed]) at Minnie's Bar in Sunset Park at 7pm on March 2nd as we consider endorsements in City Council primary races across the borough!
We'll hear from several candidates, including incumbent Council Members Justin Brannan, Crystal Hudson and Sandy Nurse, as well as two candidates running for the newly-drawn, open 43rd Council District: Wai Yee Chan and Susan Zhuang. They'll share their vision for the future of Brooklyn, and answer your questions about the policy issues that matter most.
We'll also be voting for some BYD Board positions, including our Regional Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer. The deadline to apply for one of these positions ([link removed]) is 9pm tonight! We'll consider amendments to our club constitution ([link removed]) . Email us (mailto:[email protected]) your proposal to change BYD's rules by 9pm tonight.
The June City Council primaries are approaching quickly; this is your chance to help shape BYD's role in the election!

BYD had a great time at Caucus Weekend!
BYD made the trip to Albany last weekend for the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference ([link removed]) (a.k.a. Caucus Weekend), to connect with friends and colleagues, and to strategize on how to advance progressive policy on behalf of young people in Brooklyn and across the state. We also co-sponsored an event on efforts to protect the right to vote with Assembly Member Latrice Walker and the New York Democratic Lawyers Council.
A big that you to the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican Hispanic & Asian Legislators for organizing the conference. We had a great time, and look forward to continuing the work together back here in New York's best borough!
