We’re coming at you with another Power Shift 2023 headliner announcement! Sikowis (Christine Nobiss) is an active participant of the Indigenous-led environmental movement since childhood and she believes that Indigenous sovereignty and knowledge are ways to decolonize people, the land, and the colonial-capitalist economy.

Sikowis is a mother of three and is the founder and Executive Director of Great Plains Action Society. Sikowis began formally organizing at the age of 19 as the Assistant Fisheries Organizer at the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council during the Burnt Church Rebellion. Some years later, she was an integral part of building the national organization, Seeding Sovereignty from the ground up before she left in 2019. As her heart is with her people and the prairies, Sikowis returned to Great Plains Action Society where she works at a grassroots level and with a fully Indigenous-led organization focusing on the land and climate.
