Celebrating Black History Month [ [link removed] ]

Fort McKavett State Historic Site [ [link removed] ]?is one of the best-preserved examples of a Texas Indian Wars military post (1850-1875). Members of all four Buffalo Soldier regiments served at Fort McKavett. One of these men was Sgt. Emanuel Stance, 9th Cavalry, who was the first African American soldier to receive the Medal of Honor after the Civil War.
