Friend,

I'm writing to you today with some fantastic news: Jenn McClellan resoundingly won yesterday’s special election in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. Now, she will head to Congress where she'll be making history and starting a new chapter in the seat formerly held by my friend, the late, great, Donald McEachin.

This is a huge win for our party and our shared values, and I couldn't be more thrilled for Jenn. I’m grateful for all of you who worked so hard to make this victory possible.

Jenn is a good friend and a great public servant. She’s been a champion of progressive causes throughout her career in the Virginia General Assembly. She’s fought tirelessly to expand access to health care, protect voting rights, promote economic opportunity, and advance equity and inclusion in all areas of our society. I have no doubt that she will be an excellent representative for Virginia's 4th district, and that she will make all of us proud.

I’m also very pleased to celebrate the historic nature of Jennifer’s election. She goes to Congress as the first Black woman to serve in the position in Virginia’s history.
