In the weeks since the House impeached Trump, John Bolton has come forward to offer testimony to the Senate. Lev Parnas, Giuliani's close associate, handed over damning evidence further implicating the president and senior administration members in the Ukraine scandal, in addition to giving a ground-breaking interview.

If Speaker Pelosi hadn't waited, McConnell's Senate could have pushed through a dismissal of charges or a sham trial before these new facts came to light. With the new evidence, GOP senators are finally breaking from their party leader, and we may actually get to hear from crucial witnesses.
